ALL of my PHOTOS from this blog are gone. Gone forever.

Damn you Google Plus! I inadvertently deleted a folder which had a bunch of photos in it, as I was setting up my profile yesterday NOT KNOWING that that particular folder hosted ALL of my blog photos.

They are gone.

I don't know what to do. I realize that it's just a blog...but this is my blog, my memories, my life since October 2008.

I. Am. So. Sad.

UPDATE: Apparently, I am not alone. And they will NOT recover the photos for us.

What is the point of continuing this blog if I don't have ANY of the photos from the past? I am completely devastated. Thinking of permanently switching to Tumblr.

My Daughter, the Plush Designer

So, Audrey is getting to be a good little artist lately. She draws all the time. She draws anything. She draws everything. She draws pictures for us, writes us sweet notes and randomly tapes them all over the house (we currently have 2 small notes taped to our fireplace mantle).

Tonight, I decided to turn one of drawings into a real life plush. She chose the materials, colors, and placements. I did all the leg work. She was SOOOO excited! Her very own plush design.

Activities with Audrey - Mixing Colors

Hi! Audrey here. I'm going to share with you a simple activity my mommy and I did together. I am such a curious little person and am constantly asking questions about stuff. So, my mommy decided to make this a new recurring blog post called Activities with Audrey.

This time we are going to tackle colors. And mixing colors. So we got out 4 glasses and put in a few (or more!) drops of food coloring into each glass.

Then I mixed in the food coloring using a small spoon.

I liked that part. The colors were so bright!

Then I put in a few (or more!) drops of a different color into each glass. And stirred.

Hmmmm.

Adding another color to the yellow glass.

And it's.....green!

I really liked this super simple activity. How about you?

Amy ~~and I~~ drove down to San Francisco Saturday to partake in some shopping at Renegade SF. We met up with Lauren when we got there and had a super fantastic time followed by some JapanTown goodness! I picked up an adorable pink felt bunny for Audrey from OhMaFelt, an "I'm fat, let's party." onsie for Zoey from SeiBei (I always have to get something from them), and the cutest book ever, All My Friends Are Dead. I had seen the print in several different places before and have always been a fan so imagine my delight when I found out that there was a book dedicated to my favorite little dinosaur. I even met the illustrator and writer! Yay.

Outfit Posts (rant)

Okay, so I love outfit posts as much as the next gal. But when the outfits are entirely made up of c/o (courtesy of) insert Modcloth or Ruche or Blowfish Shoes. Whatever new company decides to encourage people to buy their clothes based on what the popular bloggers are wearing. Doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of an outfit post? I mean, I (regular shopper), would like to see what people are wearing based on their (mine) budgets, style, etc. NOT what companies are giving them for FREE to wear.

I want to see a girl wearing a pretty dress that she bought from Target and styled in a super cute or different way. I want to see a girl showing off her latest vintage finds. I want to see some awesome handmade (or not) accessories and how they are styled with different outfits. I want to see people's REAL clothes.

That said, I will NEVER own a pair of Blowfish Shoes. Simply because they are sending free shoes to every fashion blogger or wanna-be fashion blogger out there. For free! Why should I spend my money on their shoes just because everyone is being sent shoes to wear? I'm not going to lie though, I initially thought the Gimmiks were really cute and wanted a pair for myself. But quickly lost interest when I realized what Blowfish was doing. I know, I know. My non-purchase doesn't matter. Nor does my opinion. But, I don't want to buy a pair of shoes just because everyone else is. Remember what your parents taught you as a kid...would you jump off a bridge just because "insert popular blogger's name here"? No. But you sure will buy some shoes because they are wearing them. I feel like we are being brainwashed to like certain clothing, shoes, or accessories just because they are being worn by popular bloggers.

I miss the days of Wardrobe Remix. Looking through pages and page of pretty Flickr photos just to see what the stylish kids were wearing.

I realize that I'm probably in the minority here with this opinion and I'm okay with that. Rant over.

For me to change my hair again. What can I say? I get bored easily. And I'm getting tired of having such short hair. I need some length. I'm thinking this style, way short in back and longer in front...like I had about 2 years ago. Plus, I am missing my curly hair. It's such a waste to have pretty curls and not be able to use them. Sooooooo...

Starting today, commence hair grow-out. I will not maintain my short style anymore. I will only trim the back as to keep it looking kept and cute. I will let it grow grow grow.

Hooray.

Thrifting is Fun.

I have to say, this is one of the best thrift scores ever. Found this book the other day from Deseret Industries, our favorite local thrift score. Not only does Deseret have the best stuff, but they color coordinate EVERYTHING. I loved walking down the isles seeing a rainbow of brightly colored plastic kitchen wear and red, white, and blue t-shirts prominently displayed in preparation of the 4th.

Best part about this book? Well...EVERYTHING!

When I first spied the book, I initialy thought that it was probably for parents livining with adult children. However, the picture on the cover implies otherwise.
The book was written in 1976. Hence the adorable illustration on the cover.

The TITLE of the book, How to Live with your Children and Like Them. Seriously? We need a book on how to LIKE our children? Aren't we supposed to love them unconditionally? The challenges of raising a child is just part of the package. I'm sure I have rough days ahead of me with my girls, but I couldn't even fathom not liking them.

I do however, get the purpose of the book. It is for parents to help them through the formative years of their children. To help them get through the challenges a bit easier. To help them successfully raise their children into good people.

But, I still think it's horribly titled. And hilarious! :)

We spent the afternoon at a cheezy carnival where Audrey rode some rides, won herself her very own prize, Zoey talked a bunch, and we all sweated our behinds off in the summer heat. Tonight we'll be heading out to Davis for some more family fun and fireworks! I love my little family.

(oh, and do you notice that my girls are totally matching today? I didn't even realize that I had they had matching dresses until I looked in their closet this morning to get them dressed. Audrey loves that she is wearing the same print as her little sister. And I can offically call myself one of those moms who dresses their daughters alike.)

Last week, we had a crazy neighbor climb the tree in our front yard all the way to the top to rescue his cockatiel. It was nuts! See the ladder? I wrote about it on my Twitter if you care to know the details.

I love that you are awake more during the day (and sleeping mostly through the night).

I love watching you play. You get the biggest, proudest smile when you lift your head up from the tummy position.

I do believe that I have started a daily routine that we'll call Dance Party.

I turn on our Apple TV so I can listen to music as I do household chores, dishes, etc.

As soon as Audrey hears the music begin to play, she RUNS out of her bedroom and starts dancing.

Like really dancing.

I tried to get a good photo yesterday and could only get her buzzing past me as you can see above.

Here is Zoey during our dance parties.

She enjoys watching her sister move around the room like a crazy person.

I wonder what she's thinking.

I like to imagine that one day, they'll both be dancing around the house together.

I brought my big girl Audrey to the party. Before I left the house, she asked where I was going so I told her I was going to a adult party and that she couldn't go. She looked at me and said all dramatically, "Fine. I'll just stay in my room FOREVER then."

After that I couldn't not bring her!!! She was very good though and had a lot of fun making new friends and running around herself.

Here's my new booth set up for Cooo. I know I was really hard on myself for not making any sales, but I've decided to take something positive from it. I know that making these headbands is something I enjoy doing. I'm not sure, however, where I'm going to go from here. Do I stop making them and give up? Or should I take some really good photos for my shop, maybe re-brand a little (as in marketing towards adults too), and advertise on some blogs? I'm thinking about it right now...

Tonight is the big Etsy Party being put on by my very own friend, Amy - also the founder of IndieSacramento. Looking forward to the supply swap and hanging out with friends!

Tommy got a new iphone this past week. My formerly non-social-network-friendly husband is enjoying his new phone, especially Instagram. Well, he is all over it and has been taking some pretty cute photos.

Poor Paco got a really bad haircut last weekend. He had a couple knots on his legs and the lady decided to CUT OFF ALL OF HIS HAIR. He's pretty pathetic looking.

We ate a Hamburger Pattie's the other day taking advantage of another new thing to us - Groupon. It had um, interesting decor. Mermaids, disco balls, tigers, jungle trees, random photos all over the walls, fish, and a weird what I assumed was Alice in Wonderland wall mural leading to the restrooms.

He's been super moody since his haircut. And super shaky like a damn chihuahua.

We learned that our adorable local Curtis Park market was a full-on butcher shop less than 3 years ago. It is now just a glorified convenience store. So sad.

Did a test run for my show display yesterday and I need a whole bunch more headbands than I'd originally planned. Eep!

So, I'm getting ready to do my first craft show as Cooo. I'll be doing Getty Crafty on June 11th with my buddies, The Monster & Me. I'm a little nervous because I don't know what to expect with the new goods...I'd been pretty successful in the local craft show circuit with my earrings and jewelry and I'm super curious to see how people react to the baby knit headbands. If then even sell at all!

In any case though, I have been using all my free time lately knitting, knitting, and more knitting. It's crazy how different it is getting ready for this show as opposed to other shows. In the past, we would spend a whole day picking out buttons, sanding, gluing, drilling, and such. The following day, we would put the finished earrings on cards and that was it! Ready for the show.

Knitting is a whole other thing. I have to do it little by little or my fingers would fall off. I'm one of those people who likes to see results FAST. I like to finish tasks FAST. I like work FAST. Knitting is so SLOOOOWWWW. I can whip up 3 bows within an hour, but it takes a bit longer for the headbands.

I'm finding myself getting impatient as I knit...feeling hard on myself because I only made 4 whole headbands in one day. I couldn't imagine what I'd do if I made and sold knit hats or scarves. Eeep!

I need to teach myself patience. I need to be patient with myself realizing that knitting just takes a bit longer than I'm used to...plus taking care of my 2 girls....I will have enough for the show in a couple weeks...I can do it...right?

So Zoey has been dying to sit up by herself this past week. Hell, she's been trying to pull herself up since birth. But lately, she's been really really trying to sit herself up and seems happiest when we pull her into the sitting position and allow her to stay that way...with our support of course.

Today, we decided to try out a Bumbo baby seat. We bought one for Audrey and she never quite liked it so we thought we forgo it this time around. We were wrong. It is true when they say that every baby is different 'cause Zoey absolutely LOVES it.

You are 3 months old as of today, May 20th.

Again, you've grown so much this past month.

I so wish I would have done this with Audrey so we could compare the two of you.

We can definitely tell that you are sisters, but you still have your differences. It's perfect.

I love seeing your big gummy smiles whenever I come around you.

I love how happy you get when I pull you up to the sitting position. You can't wait!

I love that silly squeal that comes out when you see yourself in the mirror.

I love your facial expressions. You move those eyebrows like no other!

I love your little piggie snort.

I love that your tiny fists always have bits of lint tightly squished inbetween your fingers.

I love that you are sleeping for 6 hours at night most of the time now.

I love the way you sorta hug me back when I hold you to my chest.

I love your baby rat tail due to the loss of the hair on the back of your head.

I love that your daddy calls you lizard because you randomly stick out your tongue.

I love watching you grow into your own little person.

I love that you are now holding your blanket toys. You always have those little fists wrapped around the blanket close to your face.

I love that you are recognizing certain words now, like your name. And when I say "I'm gonna get your toes", you smile real big knowing that the kisses are coming right after I say that.

I love listening to you talk. You are just starting to make the "ga" sound.

I feel very fortunate of how sweet you are, only crying when absolutely necessary. You'll cry out softly as if to say, "Hello! I'm just a little bit uncomfortable right now. I'd really appreciate it if someone picked me up. Please."

As much as I love reading blogs and having a blog. I wonder sometimes why people have them...

Sure, to let friends and family know what is going on in your life.

Sure, to share and promote your indie or crafty business.

Sure, to share your crafty indeavors.

Sure, to share your cute outfits or fashion remixes.

Or all of the above. These are the blogs I enjoy reading. They make me feel like a part of a neat, little community of like-minded people.

And as a bonus, you meet people like you who share the same interests from all over the world that you probably wouldn't meet in other circumstances.

But, then there are certain blogs, one in particular, that exist simply to make the blog writer feel good about themselves and indirectly put other people down (namely me). A blog shouldn't be about taking immature jabs at people It's sad really. I feel bad for her.

So, I created a new Etsy shop. Cooo.

If you've read my blog for a while or know me personally, you know that I love bows. Especially knit bows. In fact, I learned to knit just so I could knit myself some bows. As I was knitting a wee bow for Zoey not long ago, I thought I'd check Etsy to see if there were any knit bows for sale. I found like 2...and I was not impressed.

I decided to start a shop for baby knit bows myself. I'd been itching to craft...and knitting is totally something I can do while sitting on the sofa next to baby Zoey...and Zoey is a good little model...and it'll just be fun for me.

Well, hello.

Not too much going on here.

Spending time with my little family.

Lots of time with my girls.

My girls. I like the sound of that.

It's almost time for a Zoey - Month 2 post.

Holy cow, that's today! She's 2 months old today.

Audrey is watching a Barbie princess movie in her room right now.

I can hear her acting it out with her own Barbie dolls.

It's really sweet.

I get to spend some quality time with my girl, Lauren, tomorrow.

Super excited about that!

And some more quality time with my other girls, Amy, Kristen, and Cassidy, on Saturday.

Also, super excited about that.

Tom and I were discussing movies that make us cry last night.

We both agreed: Dear Zachary makes us cry every time.

If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend it for real. Crazy twisted story.

That's why I love Tom so much. We both think alike.

And have the same taste in stuff.

We fit together like a puzzle.

It's nice.

So, yesterday I was thinking. I'd really like to do something crafty with Audrey.

And that poor sweet little birdie was still on my mind.

I decided that we should make a wee birdhouse for the backyard.

My cute, crafty husband made the birdhouse out of the Capri Sun box I'd put to the side for the project. And Audrey painted it all up this morning.

I had paint but not paint brushes. So, we used some old un-used makeup brushes that I had.

We are now waiting for the bird house to dry and we'll hang it up in the backyard.

I opened the front door this morning to find this.

Yesterday morning, a little bird decided to take up residence on top of our porch light.

I have no idea what possessed him to make a home on top of a flat metal surface. All that work. Bringing all those tiny twigs and leaves. Back and forth. Back and forth. Only to have it fall over and over again.

The nest fell twice yesterday. Tom cleaned it up last night and put one of Paco's toy balls on top so the little birdie wouldn't come back.

Apparently, the ball fell. And the birdie came back.

Made a new home. Laid an egg. And once again, the flat metal surface didn't hold up.

I was so sad last night thinking about that birdie and all the work he put into making his home here on our porch. I'm even more sad now knowing that he lost his baby. Breaks my heart.

I love catching Audrey playing.

She loves to arrange her little toys in various ways around her room.

Once, she had every single Barbie doll (and she has a lot including mine from my childhood) in a large circle while she sat in the middle talking to them.

I love this face.

I got my first real smile yesterday. She was laying in her pack n' play and I walked over to look in on her. She looked up at me and smiled.

A real smile.

Not just the sleepy gassy one we've been getting since birth.

I got a tear in my eye and my heart skipped a few beats.

ps. the hair on the top of her little head seems to be growing back...

Okay. I'll admit it. Since the baby has been born (hell, since the last weeks of my pregnancy), I have been living pajamas and yoga pants. I only get dressed and fix myself up if I am leaving the house. And well, that hasn't been too often either with the swelling and hives. What I'm trying to say is that I am tired of living in my pajamas, no makeup, and messy hair. I do NOT want to be that girl. I guess I figure, why get fixed up if I'm not going to see anyone or if I'm going to be covered in spit up anyway? The resounding answer to that question is easy - ME.

Now that the weather appears to be getting better here in Sacramento, I decided it was time to make a change. Today marks day 1 of that change. I WILL fix myself and get dressed every day. Even if it's just to sit on the front porch with my kiddos as I plan to do today.

I need to be cute Jaymi again. Desperately.

How I spend my days...

These days, I can be found:

Covered in spit up and/or changing my shirt like 4 times a day.

Changing Baby Zoey's clothes right after I've just changed them for the 3rd time due to spit up.

(I feel like I'm always changing someone's clothes.)

Doing a vast amount of baby laundry due to said spit up incidents.

Not wandering too far away from Zoey's sleeping self because she hasn't been sleeping for too long lately and wants to be held. All the time.

I don't mind though. I love cuddling with my tiny baby.

Diaper changes, feedings, tummy time, baths, etc, etc, etc.

Spending the time not tending to Zoey's many newborn needs, um tending to my Audrey's 4-year old needs.

Mostly social needs. That girl likes to talk!

Fortunately, she is old enough to be able to change her own clothes and get her own food/drinks.

For the most part.

Every non-Zoey moment is spent playing/talking with Audrey or attempting to do household chores.

My amazing husband takes care of the most important chores in the mornings before work like dishes, straightening up, etc. He's pretty awesome.

I'm really looking foward to Zoey getting a little bit older so we can venture out into the world a bit easier and play and stuff.

This month has gone by super fast. It seems like we just met you.

I love it when you stare up at me with your bright inquisitive eyes.

I love that you are now learning to use your voice. Softly crying out when you want something, and then pausing and looking to see if it got a reaction.

I love that you get frustrated when you can't pull yourself up tightly grasping my hands. It'll come soon enough, I promise.

I love the cute clicking noise you make when you are hungry.

I love when you sleep on my chest, nuzzling your little face into my shirt.

Your tiny hands are perfect.

Your long toes are adorable.

Your pretty grey eyes make my heart melt.

Your button nose is just like your sister's.

You are slowly losing your hair and now resemble an old man with a receding hairline. But, I love it.

So, I still have soooo many photos of my Zoey and our family to share. But, I'm still battling the hives and well we've been busy playing with Audrey and snuggling with baby Zoey. We're still getting used to the newborn feedings every 3-4 hours. Been going to sleep really late at night because her bedtime feedings seems to be around 11 p.m. and been waking up around 10 a.m. (thankfully, Audrey can be a late sleeper!)...and before we know it, it's already 5 p.m. and the day is almost over. With little trips out into the world here and there. I don't know what I'm going to do when Tommy goes back to work next week and it's just me with my 2 girls all day. I'm going to miss him so.

Not to mention the fact that he's been such a sweetheart by frequently sleeping in the living room with Zoey so I can sleep through the night. I tell him not to, but he says it's the least he can do after the hellish past 10 months I've had. He says he wants to do this for me now since he won't be able to when he goes back to work...he really really loves me. <3

I've decided to document Zoey's first year with monthly photos. I so wish I had thought to do this with with Audrey's first year (or um copied the idea). Adorable monthly owl stickers from here! It would have been neat to compare the two.

Here are Zoey's "Just Born" photos. Oh, and I didn't get any without the pacifier. She wouldn't let it go.

She's getting better and better with her little hands but we've had to start putting those newborn mittens on her lately. It breaks my heart so to see the little scratches on her pretty little face. She's quite the mover and shaker.

Believe it or not, she is wearing newborn pants. I don't remember buying Audrey any newborn clothes. She wore 3 month clothes at birth. I've had to buy several more newborn sleepers just to keep Zoey looking cute! And they were both born 2 weeks before their due dates. What can I say, my girl is petite!

Her yucky umbilical cord has finally fallen off. Bleh. She's had a few baths now and I can't believe how good she is. Just lays there and looks around. She is so cute after her baths. Her eyes get big and she gets real serious looking around like "what did you do to me?".

Paco loves her. (His mouth looks open in this photo because he had a treat in it. For Zoey maybe?) Just today, he's started laying on the top of the sofa looking into her moses basket crying if she moves or loses her pacifier or whatever...it's sweet.

9 months of nausea, pain, and sickness.

Finally have the baby. Am now pretty much healed from the c-section.

I should be great right?

But, I can't get rid of the hives.

They. Just. Won't. Go. Away.

I've been to several doctors. Plus an allergist.

Cannot find the cause of the hives.

Could be my hormones. Could be all the meds I was given in the hospital. Could be...anything.

The worst part is that I have no end date to this misery.

I could have the hives for another week. Another month. Another 6 months.

I read online that one lady had it for 11+ years.

I will never leave my house again.

I feel defeated.

The Birth Story

At about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 20th, I woke up with contractions. I figured they were just the usual pre-labor contractions until I started timing them. They were exactly 5 minutes apart. I layed in bed for an hour counting and breathing before I decided it was time. Woke Tommy up. He kept asking if I was sure. He had it in his mind that the baby couldn't possibly be born before our c-section scheduled for the following Friday (February 25th). I said yes.

Woke up my mom and dad. Threw on clothes. Finished packing up the toiletries and such into the hospital bag. And we were on our way to the hospital.

I was happy to find out that since I was already scheduled for a c-section, that a c-section would most definitely happen. Thank you Jesus! (I had some complications healing last time that was pretty traumatizing to me, not to mention all the waiting and pushing and pain that I would be skipping by having a c-section.) But FIRST, they had to see how far along I had dialated. If it was less than 4 centimeters dilated, then we'd all be headed back home.

4 centimeters it was, give or take! We were in! They told me we'd be having the baby within the hour. Yikes. We were all ready to go until another pregnant lady started to push, taking my doctor away for a bit. I was so anxious at this point. Waiting. Not knowing what to expect. All that other stuff.

Fortunately for me, the other lady's baby wasn't quite ready to come out at that time so we were back in after waiting about 45 minutes.

Overall, the c-section was a piece of cake. My amazing little baby was there right before my eyes before I could even process what was happening behind the big blue curtain. My incision is healing up just fine. I have had some other problems in the post-baby healing though with swelling (likely due to the all fluids pushed into my body during surgery), hives (yeah, you probably already know about that since I've had them now for a while), and now a bladder infection (again, due to the surgery). I'm just going to keep on truckin' and I'm sure I'll start to feel human again soon.

This is my favorite picture from the experience. I'm laying there on the operating table shaking. Waiting to see how this would all play out. Feeling the pressure of my tummy being cut open and my guts moving about. But, I had my Tommy holding my hand. Couldn't have asked for anything more at that moment.

Right after she was born, my mom and Tom got the priviledge of having baby Zoey's tiny footprints stamped on their arms. I was jealous.

Ready for Baby

Well. We are finally ready for Baby Zoey. I smile real big every time I walk into our bedroom and see her pretty crib in the corner.

Zoey will eventually move to Audrey's room, but for now we've decided to keep her in our bedroom until she's old enough to sleep on her own. And if you've seen Audrey's room....ummm, you know that there's a lot of work to be done to fit another little person in there.

As I've said before, we have learned a lot from Audrey's baby experience. Rather than buying a plain white crib as we did before, we decided to add some color with this bright green crib from Ikea. Audrey's bedroom is now covered in pink and green so it will fit perfectly when the time comes.

The amazing "Welcome Zoey" bunting was made by my dear friend Lauren. The colors and style are perfect for what we were imagining for baby Zoey.

My beloved Todd Oldham houndstooth La-Z-Boy sofa has been sitting in our large bedroom since the move and it is going to be a perfect spot for our upcoming nightime feedings and such.

And a spot for our little dog to check out the newest member of our little family.

As I was taking photos of the crib, I caught our little guy sitting so cute starting out into the backyard. I swear I could have a whole blog or 365 photo project of just my Paco and his cute poses.

Once I saw that my friend Lauren Smash was making Love Bots, I knew immediately that we had to have one for the baby. Especially since we often call her Zoey Bot. Not because we think our baby is a robot, but for our love for vintage/tin robots. And it just sounds cute...say it out loud once - Zoey Bot.

You know I had to get the ever popular, adorable Sophie the Giraffe teether for my girl!

I've been saving this pretty bunny since last year's Renegade craft faire for my baby. Even before I knew if I was having a boy or a girl. Also made by Lauren.

We picked up this cutie at Super 7 in Japan Town a while back. Audrey never really appreciated him, so I snatched him up and kept him in my craft room. Now, he will keep baby Zoey company in her crib.

Zoey's first pair of shoes (from Target). I realize that she has absolutely no need for shoes this early in her life, but they were too cute to pass up. Plus, they match every single cute outfit we have for her so far.

We bought a square bookshelf for Audrey's closet for all of Zoey's clothes/blankets. Again, if you've seen Audrey's room (see link above), you'd know that there is no room for any additional dressers or anything. But Audrey's closet is HUGE! Plenty of room for all of her clothes, Zoey's new shelves, and all of our winter coats. Huge. I couldn't get a good photo of it though...

Moving to the living room. Naturally, we bought the swing and pack n play to match the colors already in the room - green and grey.

As you can see, Audrey has already decided to use the swing for her baby polar bear. I love that she actually strapped in her stuffed bear!

The awesome owl mat (from the baby shower) fits perfectly in the pack n play. We'll end up putting on the carpet for tummy time though of course. Just as we ended up doing with Audrey, we put our round coffee table away until Zoey gets big enough. Gives us a little extra space for said tummy time on the rug.

There was A LOT of rearranging to do to prepare for baby!

Paco's house has found a new spot in the corner.

The other chair has found it's way to the dining room area. Reminds me of the phone area in my house growing up...waaay before cordless phones. Ha! Looking at this photo and the one before it, you can see that we have a wee collection of old phones in our house.

Our new rocker. From Ikea of course. Another lesson learned. With Audrey, we bought one of those ugly baby gliders and it never really fit in with our decor. Don't get me wrong, it was probably one of the most comfortable chairs I've ever sat in. But, it was just soooo ugly and so not our style. We got rid of that thing so fast once we found that we didn't need it any more.

We'll be able to keep this new rocker for a long time after baby Zoey won't need to be rocked so much anymore. And we'll still love it!!!

Now for the boring baby purchase. The carseat/stroller. We chose this Chicco one in grey and green (do you see the trend in colors we seem to staying with?). Another lesson learned. Last time we bought the Bumbleride Queen B (can't seem to find the exact one online/don't seem to sell it anymore). It had really large wheels and was more of a carriage style stroller. We quickly learned with baby Audrey that it was so much easier to keep a sleeping baby in their carrier than try to unstrap & unbuckle the carrier just to get the baby into the stroller. So, we found that we'd carry the carrier and keep the stroller in the car more often - out of convenience. Plus, the large wheels on the stroller would not fit into our smaller car's trunk...at all. This time we are going for comfort all the way with the travel system/carseat stroller.

That's all! Now, we we wait. <3

False Labor?

So, last night I had contractions and pelvic pain for like 3 hours straight. I was both happy and sad to know that my baby could be coming soon. Am I ready? Will I still get my c-section? I need to finish packing my hospital bag! Should I call the hospital now? Is baby Zoey ready to come out now? We still don't have the moses basket! Will she be healthy? I need a shower! Am I going to have to push? Can I do this again? My parents aren't here yet...who's going to watch Audrey? OMG! OMG!

But sadly, the contractions never ended up being less than 5 minutes apart for an hour straight. And they eventually stopped. Again, I was both happy and sad. Spoke with my doctor this morning about my sinus infection (yes, I have a sinus infection to top off all my other miserable pregnancy symptoms) and she said it just sounds like false labor. My body is getting ready...

I'm so ready to get this baby out and meet her and hug her and kiss her.

At this point in the pregnancy, there's no flattering front shot of the ole tummy (not to mention those ginormous boobies).

And to think I'm only going to get bigger in the next 16 days til Zoey's scheduled arrival.

Today was my last official day at work until JUNE. Went to the doc last week and discussed my sicknesses and such...to my surprise, she decided to take me out of work for the remainder of the pregnancy. Now, I can focus on my health and growing this little baby in the comfort of my home. I'm thankful and relieved to say the least.

Zoey's Baby Shower

On Saturday, Amy and Lauren threw me a baby shower for Baby Zoey. Everything was perfect - the owl theme, the colors, the decor, the food, the people - everthing!

Amy brought all the decorations and goodies to my house and it was all so adorable! I especially loved the pink and white paper straws, color coordinated soda pops, and reusable gift bags. You can read more about her thought process for the party and how she made certain decorations on her blog.

Cute story: After the party, Audrey walked into her room and was greeted by these pom pom owls and the "owl ball" above neatly placed in her room. (Amy must have snuck in there and left them!) Audrey was soo surprised and excited to see her new friends. She's been carrying the "owl ball" all over the house with her since then. She loves Amy. <3

We even had a dessert table!

Yummy cupcakes made by Lauren. She also made pretty pretty chocolate ones (the vanilla icing was TO DIE FOR), but the lemon ones were my favorite!

An official start to Zoey's wardrobe from the baby shower yesterday. Can't wait to add to it and make her own little space soon. She'll be sharing with Audrey, but I think she'll have a little corner in our big bedroom for a while until then. Big, exciting plans for that!

Worst Thing about being pregnant: Being sick ALL the time. So, I feel as though I've become one of those people with agoraphobia. I'm seriously afraid to leave the house...ever. I get extremely nauseous whle I'm blow drying my hair...feel pain while I'm out...always miserable.

Best Thing about being pregnant: Knowing that she'll be here soon. Watching my tummy roll about and feeling her move. She's a mover and a shaker!

I mentioned to Tom yesterday that I'd been craving chocolate cake. So, my amazing husband surprised me with this adorable "unbirthday" cake this morning. He's such a cutie pie!

Audrey and I were looking at old photos last night of her. While Audrey laughed at her baby self, I started thinking. I cannot believe that this is my Audrey just a few years ago. She's grown so much!

Those little cheeks! Her little looks have changed so much through the years. Less baby-more girl.

I can't believe that we're going to have another little baby in just 8 weeks. Will Zoey look like her sister? Will she have those cheeks that both Audrey and I had? The red hair? How are we going to adjust having a baby in the house again? We've gotten so used to our big girl.

Paco got a haircut yesterday. We told the groomers to give him a puppy cut, but I guess their version of "puppy cut" is a wee bit shorter than ours. We usually like to keep his hair fairly long (but still shorter than the fancy shih tzus) with a little spike on top of his little head. We've even been known to put a little hair wax in it (yep).

It's sure different to see him with his short hair. He has spots! And you can see the white path on his back! My little guy looks less puppy and more gentleman dog now.

And I just love the way he sits on the back of the sofa looking to the door...

Tried something a bit different with the ole hair today. Just cut it and I'm already for a change. Drats.

It's funny. I look so much happier than I feel in this photo.

So, I'm sick again today. The pain seems to be getting worse and worse. Left work early and was fortunate to get a quick doctor's appointment. Apparently, I have an aversion to the antibiotics that I've been taking for the bladder infection last week. Doc gave me a new antibiotic, along with much needed pain meds, to keep me truckin'. Hopefully it'll start working soon.

Back to work today (hence the new 2011 desk calendar). Not feeling much better, but I had to change the way I got ready this morning to be able to get through the nausea. I guess I'll be fine, as long as I can stay sitting at my desk all day. Please don't make me do anything strenuous today, worker people!

Also, regarding my pregnancy sicknesses and attitude. While I am finding it difficult to enjoy (er tolerate) this pregnancy, I am super thankful and excited to be able to bring another wonderful little person into my family. Can't wait to meet her. And have my body back to myself.

I'm sick again. I pretty much have pain/nausea/discomfort ALL. THE. TIME. It's so miserable. I feel like a prisoner in my own body.

I'm trying so hard to enjoy this pregnancy, but it's really difficult when I'm sick most of the time.

Sad. Lame. Unfair. Depressing. Sick. Blah.

Took down the Christmas tree today. I'm sorta sad to see the holidays come to an end. But, I'm also sorta glad. It means that we're that much closer to meeting baby Zoey.

Audrey was super excited to help take everything down. Especially the candy canes.

Wow. Next year, this ornament won't be relevant anymore...we'll have another addition to the family. Crazy.
